What to Visit in Nha Trang ?
Beaches
The obvious thing to do in Nha-Trang. Your hotel is probably located in a parallel street to the beach, so you just have to walk to the beach with your sandals.
As always occurs in big cities, there are more isolated beaches outside of the centre, especially to the north. If you are visiting Vinpearl amusement park, there is a nice white sand beach there.
Vinpearl amusement Park + Cable Car
Vinpearl is a sort of “DisneyLand” and you arrive there with a cable car that goes over the sea.
The park is located on a small island that has some luxurious resorts and beaches (the island was once a jail).
The cable car ride takes 12 minutes, it is 3,320 metre long. A very nice experience.
The park entrance ticket includes, the cable car and all the attractions inside the park (the big wheel etc…). It is not possible to pay just for the cable car.
The entrance fee is relatively expensive, 880,000 Dong, but cheap compared to similar parks in Europe or the U.S. If you enter the park after 16:00, it’s half price.
Is the park worth a visit ?
Definitely yes, but your enjoyment will depend on the number of people that are with you in the park. Some visitors report enormous queues for riding the attractions.
and even for boarding the cable car.
I was lucky, because I entered the park on a weekday and after 16:00, and it was quite empty.
Entering after 16:00 makes sense if you don’t intend to use the Water Park (which is very good) and if you don’t want to lay on the nice beach. The park is open till 21:00 but some attractions are beginning to close at 18:00, including the water park and the zoo.
Talking about the zoo, some animals are kept in horrible conditions, in small cages at night, I’m talking about animals like bears and apes.
The big wheel is huge and worth a ride.
There are several “bubbles” with amazing plants inside.
At night the park is nicely illuminated and there is a fountain show.
The food in the park : You are not allowed to bring food and most of the restaurants are the type of MacDonald’s, but I found a good crêpe in the coffee place.
There are not a lot of attractions type “roller coasters” (like there are in Disneyland, for example), but Vinpearl is extending, so there will be more attractions of this type in the future.
Anyway, you can easily spend an entire day in Vinpearl, if you start with the water park and the beach, in the morning. The waterpark is reported to be especially good.
If you don’t want to wait the line for the cable car, you can board a speed boat, in order to reach the park.
How to get there ?
The cable car station is about 5 Km (line distance) from the centre (direction South).

Temple – Po Nagar Cham Towers
The attraction here is the temple and the Chinese tourists. The temple belongs to a ethnic group called Champ (see in Wikipedia).

Long Son Pagoda
A Buddhist temple, located quite in the city centre.
If you climb some stairs, you arrive to a big white Buddha statue.
And you get a nice view
As a bonus you can drink a coconut, in the coffee place.
Tip : You can ask for a spoon and also eat the coconut.
How to get there ?
The pagoda is in the town centre. It is 2.2 Km (line distance) from the lotus tower (direction West). It is close to the Train station and to the Nha Trang Cathedral.
See it on the interactive Map above. You can use one of the Transports mentioned above.
Nha Trang Cathedral
From the outside, the cathedral is nice because it is elevated, and it is located in a busy square with traffic.
From the inside, a very regular church.
At the square, where the church is located, you can sit on the terrace of a café and watch the traffic :

Waterfalls
There are some waterfalls around Nha-Trang, not at easy reach without a way of transport like a motorcycle, taxi or an organised tour. There are 2 waterfalls, which are relatively close to Nha Trang. Ba Ho waterfalls, and Yang Bay waterfalls.
How to get there ?
Ba Ho waterfall is about 18 Km (line distance) from the centre (direction North) and Yang Bay waterfall is 32 Km from the centre (direction West).
Use one of the Transports mentioned above or take an organised tour.
Organised Excursions – Organised Tours
There are many organised day trips around Nha Trang. Apparently there are more pagodas and waterfalls in the surroundings. A very nice day trip is with a boat.
They take you to visit some islands and to swim around the boat.
And give you lunch
You can book a tour in the many travel agencies in town (many of them with Russian speaking staff) or you can search a tour here, on line.
